BenQ Zowie has been making e-Sports equipment for the past few years after the needs and requirements of the game players. BenQ has launched the Zowie XL2411K 144Hz 24 inch Gaming Monitor to make the e-Sports players feel comfortable and make the best setup out of the gamers.
I have had the chance to explore the Zowie XL2411K Gaming Monitor for more than two weeks and during the period, the monitor has exceeded the expectations in terms of performance and the overall game playing experience.
Design
The Zowie XL2411K has almost identical looks to its K-series sibling, the 24.5 inch Zowie XL2546K 240Hz e-Sports Monitor. The base stand is almost the same and it is built quite sturdy and does not wobble easily and gives extra room for the to set up the gaming space because of its smaller footprint. The monitor height can be adjusted up to 155mm and can be tilted -5~23°. It also allows users to swivel the monitor 45/45° and rotate up to 90°, making the players flexible and make the setup how they want to create their gaming environment.
Zowie XL2411K comes with an overall dark grey bezel with a red accent on the stand. The 24-inch screen is covered with hard plastic and comes in 3 parts inside the box and it is quite easy to set up for the end-users.
The monitor has 3 buttons, including a power button and two presets and a joystick to control and select the menu. The buttons are clicky and very responsive, it can be easily reachable as well. For the users who wants to quickly reach the settings based on the gaming scenario, Zowie has made a port available on the monitor to support the 5-way S-Switch.
In terms of connectivity, Zowie XL2411K comes with HDMI 2.0 port, 2x HDMI 1.4 port, a Display Port 1.2 and a 3.5mm audio jack.
Performance
The 24-inch 144Hz Zowie e-Sports monitor is equipped with a TN panel with a resolution of 1920×1080. The monitor promises to provide a 1ms response time with a contrast ratio of 1000:1 and a peak brightness of 320nits. Due to the TN display panel used in the monitor, the viewing angles are limited for the users.
Zowie has included their DyAc technology in the monitor to elevate the gamer’s playing experience by eliminating the fast-paced gameplay scenarios. however, the monitor brightness will be reduced when the feature is enabled. The Black eQualizer helps to brighten the dark gaming areas to increase visibility and find the hidden enemies in the corners of the gaming scene.
Sadly, Zowie has not included the support for Freesync or G-sync in the Zowie XL2411K Gaming monitor. The monitor is made specially to boost the player’s confidence with its cutting edge features to deliver the best of the players without shelling out much money for better performing hardware.
We mostly spent the time playing Destiny and Call of Duty on this monitor and we had no issues with ghosting. The monitor produced good colours, thanks to the Color vibrance feature included which has abilities to process 20 colour intensity levels.
Conclusion
The Zowie XL2411K e-Sports Monitor with Full HD resolution and 144Hz refresh rate is a perfect companion for gamers. The build quality and the smaller base footprint is a much-appreciated change brought in this model. Even though my ideal size of the gaming monitor is around 27-inches, the smaller size XL2411K has easily made me feel good with small screen real-estate.
At the price of AED 899, the Zowie XL2411K is one of the best inexpensive gaming monitors available for delivering a decent gaming experience. Its support for the gaming consoles like the X-Box and PlayStation 5 is a bonus for the gamers.
The 24-inch Zowie 144Hz monitor is worth considering the option for gamers who are looking for inexpensive monitors without much compromise on the quality of hardware and the ergonomics it has to offer.
