When the news leaked that OnePlus would be releasing a succesor to its budget OnePlus X. The fans and the wellwishers of the chinese company were excited for its new budget smartphone. After serveral leaks, OnePlus has officially launched the much hyped OnePlus Nord today in a augmented reality event.

Since their debut device OnePlus One in 2014, the price were on a rise from $299 till OnePlus 8 priced at $700 for the base model. The chinese company had moved from their initial objective of being a ‘flagship killer’ delivering a higher specification device at an affordable price point. With the OnePlus Nord, the company is trying to regain its lost customers who have moved away from the brand.

OnePlus is trying to redefine the mid-range price bracket once again with the Nord. The company’s success were mainly because of their products priced under the $500 category smartphone.

OnePlus Nord is a great phone in its price with 5G Support and 90Hz display

As per the previous leaks, OnePlus Nord will be the company’s first phone with a dual front facing camera with a primary 32MP shooter coupled with 8 MP wide angle camera for group selfies.

Hardware

The OnePlus Nord comes with a upper mid-range specification with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G Octa Core processor with Adreno 620 GPU for graphics tasks. The chipset is expected to deliver similar to SD845 performance with a 5G connectivity support.

It comes with a rear glass panel with a plastic frame in the middle with a chrome finishing and it looks premium and a lot better compared to its competitor devices. Nord comes in 3 variants with the base model exclusive to India in 6 GB LPDDR4X RAM with 64GB storage. 8 GB RAM variant will come with 128 GB storage and 12 GB RAM with 256 GB storage.

Camera

The Nord comes with a Quad camera setup in rear and dual lens in the front. At the rear side, It has a 48MP Sony IMX586 lens with OIS along with 8MP wide angle lens with 119 degree field of view and 5MP depth rens and 2MP lens for macro shots. The Sony IMX616 powered 32MP  front facing camera comes with a f2.45 aperture and 8MP wide angle sensor comes with a 105 degree field of view.

The device can shoot 4K video at 30fps, 1080p at 60fps, and slow-mo videos at up to 1080p at 240fps. OnePlus did not include 4K at 60fps in Nord like its OnePlus 8, even though both devices comes with the same Sony sensor. However, the front facing camera can shoot 4K videos at 60fps.

Display

OnePlus Nord comes with a 6.44 inch FHD+ resolution flat fluid AMOLED display with a refresh rate of 90Hz and it is protected with a Corning Gorilla Glass 5 from scratches. It maintains a 86.7% screen-to-body ratio in 20:9 screen.

Software

Out of the box, Nord comes with Android 10 with Oxygen OS 10.5 running on the top of the OS for delivering optimized and slick performance for its users.

Battery

It packs a 4115mAh non-removable battery to provide juice for a full day usage. Similar to the predecessors, OnePlus has included its Warp Charge 30T which can charge  upto 70% in 30 minutes along with a 30W adapter with a USB Type-C cable inside the box.

Connectivity

Apart from the 5G support, the device comes with NFC, Bluetooth 5.1 with A2DP, LE, aptX HD support and 2X2 MIMO Wi-Fi AC. It is equipped with dual-band A-GPS, GLONASS, GALILEO, BDS, SBAS, NavIC GPS for connectivity,

Pricing & Availability

The base variant device of 64GB with 6 GB RAM will be available only in India with a price tag of  ₹24,999 in Grey Onyx only. The 8 GB with 128GB storage variant is priced at £379/€399/₹27,999. The third varaint of12 GB RAM with 256 GB storage is priced at £469/€499/₹29,999.

OnePlus Nord will start the sales from August 4 in Grey Onyx and Blue Marble colours in India and Europe.
