OnePlus has introduced its much hyped affordable Smart TV line up in a scheduled YouTube live event in India. OnePlus has already have successful smartphone business and its trying to expand its product portfolio. Based on that OnePlus had launched their OnePlus TV Q-series Smart TV last year. Now adding to the line up, OnePlus added 2 new series U-series and Y-series.
The Shenzhen based company has been planning to release more afforable Android based Smart TV market which is now ruled by the brands Xiaomi, Realme, Vu etc. The Q-series Smart TV’s are more like High-end TV priced around INR One Lakh.
The new U-series and Y-series OnePlus TV contains 3 models in 32, 43 and 55 inches.
OnePlus TV 55U1
OnePlus U-series is called OnePlus TV 55U1. The 55 inch Smart TV has 4K panel with razor thin bezels all around and fitted with a metal frame and carbon fiber and a magnetic plate to hide the ports . Also it comes with a 30W 4 speaker for immersive sound effect to support the Dolby Atmos. The 4K display panel is equipped with 93% DCI-P3 which OnePlus reffering as “OnePlus Cinematic Display” with support to Dolby Vision, HDR10 and HLG.
The 55U1 is euipped with gamma engine for its display with 9 different picture mode. It comes with a 95% screen-to-body ratio and 6.9mm thin. OnePlus 55U1 is shipping with Android 9 with Oxygen Play UI skin on its top. It has also equipped some great software features like Data Saver mode, Kids mode etc.
OnePlus TV 55U1 is priced at INR 49,999 and will be available in Amazon India for purchase from July 5.
OnePlus TV Y-series
OnePlus TV Y-series comes in 2 different sizes 32 inch and 43 inch. Both Smart TV comes with “OnePlus Cinematic Display”. 32 inch variant comes with 1366×768 HD ready display and 43 inch variant is equipped with Full HD diplay with 1920×1080 resolution. Both Y-series comes with 2 x 10W speakers with Dolby Audio support. 32 inch OnePlus TV is named as 32Y1 and 43 inch variant is named as 43Y1.
OnePlus TV Y-series comes with features like OnePlus Play, OnePlus Connect, Kids Mode, Google Assistant, ChromeCast and Shared Album. Both 32 and 43 inch Smart TV are expected to go on sale on July 5 in Amazon India at INR 12,999 and 22,999 respectively.
OnePlus TV Y-series and U-series will directly compete with Xiaomi Mi TV
Both the U and Y series comes with OnePlus minimalistic and simple remote. Apart from the basic Volume toggle buttons, it comes with dedicated buttons for Netflix, Amazon Prime Video and Oxygen Play. Its unique square navigation buttons looks good, even though we feel its button placement on top of the remote will be a hassle to use with one hand use.
OnePlus TV U and Y series Smart TV are expected to directly compete with the market leader Xiaomi’s Mi TV series, Vu, Realme, Motorola and Nokia. Also it may capture some of the entry level segment of Electronics giant Samsung and LG. Also OnePlus has added that after sometime all the Smart TV’s will be available in offline stores as well.
