MediaTek-5G-SoC

MediaTek has announced its 3rd chipset from the mid-range SoC Dimensity 800 series, the Dimensity 800U chipset. It is the third entry from the series after the Dimensity 800 and 820 chipsets.

The Dimensity 800U is a tweaked model of the 800, which comes with a higher clock speed of 2.4GHz instead of Dimensity 800 2GHz. The 800U supports 5G dual SIM support which is built in 7nm TSMC process.

The Dimensity 800U integrates 5G modem supports sub-6Ghz SA and NSA networks and  5G+5G dual SIM dual standby (DSDS), dual Voice over New Radio (VoNR), and 5G two carrier aggregation (2CC 5G-CA). MediaTek claims that these cutting edge technologies can deliver faster and more stable 5G for the users.

MediaTek Dimensity 800U supports Dual 5G SIM and faster UFS 2.2 storage

It has an octa-core CPU with a dual cluster consisting of two Arm Cortex-A76 processors with a clock speed of 2.4GHz and six ARM Cortex-A55 processors with a clock speed of 2.0GHz with an integrated ARM Mali-G57 GPU and up to 12GB LPDDR4x RAM support.

The SoC has bumped up the support to UFS 2.2 speed compared to the UFS 2.1 support offering with Dimensity 800. The 800U supports Full HD+ panels up to 120Hz screen refresh rate and supports up to 64MP camera with Quad camera capabilities.

The Dimensity 800U chipset also supports HDR10+ for rich visual quality and an Integrated MediaTek MiraVision PQ engine with HDR optimization for various types of videos. In the sound department, 800U supports voice on wake up (VoW) and dual-mic noise reduction technology, lowering the standby power consumption of a voice assistant, and enabling it to hear clear sound regardless of external noise interruptions.

Last month MediaTek had announced Dimensity 720, an SoC aiming for the budget smartphones with 5G.
