Once the market leader in smartphones, Taiwan’s HTC Corporation is preparing for their first 5G Smartphone powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 865. HTC is the company who made the first Android smarphone HTC Dream back in 2008. HTC Introduced many firsts to the market including first windows and android powered devices, First Google device Nexus One, 4G and 3D smarphone, First Facebook phone, full metal unibody device, First dual camera phone HTC One M8 etc. In 2019 HTC had introduced their 5G Hub, the first of its kind 5G hotspot device.
HTC’s last flagship device was revealed in 2018, HTC U12+. Since last 2 years they were out of flagship game due to high competition from Apple, Samsung and aggressive pricing from the chinese manufacturers.
According to a recent report, HTC is planning to release their 5G flagship device in July as HTC Taiwan’s General Manager, Chen Boyu confirmed his company will introduce a 5G smartphone in Taiwan as soon as 5G services will be launched in the country. Since these high-speed services will debut in Taiwan in July, it would make sense for HTC to introduce its 5G smartphone around the same time.
As far as the other specs goes, we do not have any confirmation about the RAM, Storage and Camera. As the phone will be running a top of the line SoC, we can assume that the phone will carry a premium pricing.
