Asus Zenfone 6 were a hit smartphone in terms of beefy specifications and its unique flip camera that delivers great selfies. Today Asus launched its successor Asus Zenfone 7 series at an online event.
The Zenfone 7 series packed a top of the line hardware and retained the much liked Flip camera from the predecessor with some improvements like an added telephoto lens. The Zenfone 7 series consists of two models, Zenfone 7 and Zenfone 7 Pro.

Hardware
Asus has packed Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 line chipset on its Zenfone 7 series. However the Pro version gets the slightly over clocked CPU, Snapdragon 865 plus. Both the CPU’s comes with the powerful Adreno 650 GPU to manage the graphics.
The Duo devices come with Corning Gorilla Glass 6 in the front and Gorilla Glass 3 at the back for protecting the accidental scratches. Both glasses are sandwiched between an aluminum frame to give the users a premium feel in the hands while holding the phone. The devices have 165.1×77.3×9.6mm dimension which weighs around 230g, a 30g heavier than the Zenfone 6.
The Zenfone 7 will be available in 6GB and 8GB LPDDR5 RAM variants awith 128GB storage and Zenfone 7 Pro packs an 8GB RAM with 256GB Internal storage. Both Zenfone 7 and 7 Pro can be expanded using SDXC card slot which supports up to 2TB. The device will be released in two colours Aurora Black and Pastel White.
The fingerprint scanner has been moved from the rear side as we have seen in the Zenfone 6 and it has been integrated with the power button.
Camera
Asus has retained its flip camera mechanism from its 2019 flagship and improvised with an additional telephoto cam to the array. The Zenfone 7 series has a 40 percent smaller motor and more than 2 times torque with faster rotation.
The Zenfone is now packing 3 lens in its camera array, with primary 64MP Sony IMX686 sensor F1.8 lens with OIS, 12MP IMX363 Sony Sensor that can capture 113 degree ultrawide shots and a 8MP telephoto lens with 3X optical zoom which supports OIS as well.
The Zenfone 7 series primary camera can capture videos up to 8K resolution at 30fps, 4K videos at 30/60/120fps, Full HD at 30/60/240fps and 720p at 240fps.
Display
The Zenfone 7 has a 6.67 inch Full HD+ AMOLED panel with 90Hz refresh rate with 92% screen-to-body ratio and 200Hz touch sampling rate. The display supports Always On Mode and 110% DCI-P3 color coverage with a maximum brightness of 700 nits. The HDR 10+ support makes sure the display delivers rich content.
Software
Asus Zenfone 7 series will run Android 10 with ZenUI 7 running on top of the Android OS with Asus pre-loaded software and optimizations. They have kept the OS almost clean and gives like a stock experience for the users.
Asus hasn’t made any update commitments made for the Zenfone 7 series as the latest version of the Android will be released in the coming months.
Battery
Asus has packed a 5000mAh Lithium Polymer battery inside the Zenfone 7. This time instead of an 18W fast charger like the 2019, Zenfone 7 bumped up the fast charging to 30W which allows to charge 60% in just 34 minutes and 93 minutes to full charge. The charger supports USB-PD 3.0 and reverse charging as well.
Connectivity
The Zenfone Duo supports 5G on its dual SIM slots with 5G+4G or Dual 4G configuration. It supports dual band WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.0 with AptX Adaptive and NFC.
Pricing & Availability
The Asus Zenfone 7 and 7 Pro will debut globally on September 1. The base model with 6GB/128GB is priced at NT$ 21,990 in its home country Taiwan, which roughly converts to $750/₹56,000/ AED 2800. The Pro version with 8GB/256GB is priced at NT 27,990 which is equal to $950/₹ 71,000/ AED 3500. The Global pricing of the devices is expected to be confirmed next week.
