A well known leaker has revealed that Apple’s upcoming iPhone 12 series smartphones won’t include charger and earphones inside the retail box. The move is said to be reducing the costs and to make a slimmer retail box.
The news was revealed through the Twitter account L0vetodream. whom gave reliable information about iPad Pro, Magic Keyboard and iPhone SE. Currently the customers are paying about $63 for earpods and charger.
Also another a well known Analyst called Ming-Chi Kuo have confirmed sometime back that iPhone 12 wont include earphones in box to boost the sales of AirPods. Also Mr. Kuo’s sources from the Apple’s supply chain have confirmed the same.
Apple is trying to offset the 5G components cost from the iPhone 12 accessories removal
Apple wants to keep selling the iPhone 12 at a similar price to the iPhone 11 and removing in-box accessories will offset the cost of the 5G networking components. This will presumably reduce the size of the iPhone packaging considerably, helping lower Apple’s freight costs and be better for the environment. It’s not clear if the Lightning cable is still included, Kuo added.
The removal of iPhone 12 series accessories inside the box will help the company to make the phone slimmer, thus Apple will be able to save cost on freight and reduce e-waste for a better environment friendly phone. Also the demand for the accessories like earpods, lightning cables and Airpods will go up and california based tech giant is expected to make some money out of this move.
