The Anker Soundcore Life Dot 2 is a well built true wireless earphones that offer excellent value for money for the users. It is well suited to use during Sports and Fitness activities which fits perfectly in-ear.
In the last couple of years, the True Wireless Stereo market has already flooded with too many devices at almost the price points. Anker Sound Core Life Dot 2 has kept its offering simple and made it available for a really attractive price without too many compromises.
Design & Build
The Life Dot 2 design is traditional looking truly wireless earbuds compared to the regular AirPods alternative earbuds like the Anker Soundcore Life P2 true wireless earbuds. With the 13g weight per earbud, the earbud sticks further outside the ear than the similar earbud like the SoundPeats True Free+. However, this doesn’t particularly look bad or look bulky. Like the Soundcore Spirit X, with the Life Dot 2, Anker has included 5 ear tips and 3 ear-wings inside the box, the earbuds fit very well in the ear if you find the right size ear wing and tips.
Life Dot 2 feels very well built using quality plastic material. Anker has also made this sweat and dust resistance certification IPX5, which enables the device to use while workout and in sports.
The Life Dot 2 battery charging case is on the heavier side and feels a bit of premium in terms of build quality. Anker offers a total 100 hours of playback, including the buds and case. However, the bulkiness with the large battery comes with a cost of portability.
Performance
Soundcore Life Dot 2 has a well-balanced sound profile with its 8mm drivers. Unlike Life P2, the device delivers a somewhat okay Bass performance and lacks the treble in some of the songs. The vocals were clear and the overall performance was quite decent. Anker does not let you tweak the sound profile using the Soundcore App like the Soundcore Liberty Air 2. No App support means, no firmware updates as well.
The Life Dot 2 performed well during our call tests as well. The recipient was able to hear the voice clearly. Even though Life Dot 2 doesn’t offer the Active Noise Cancellation in its earbuds, it does a decent job in noise isolation with its dual mics on each bud and considering the price point.
The earbuds offer a whopping 8 hours of playback time with a full charge and an excellent 100 hours of total playback using its 2600mAh battery in the charging case. Anker has offered 90 minutes of playback time, with just 10 minutes of fast charging using the USB Type-C port. For full charging the charging case, it will take about 1.5 hours.
During the review period of 2 weeks, the device had no issues connecting to our multiple Android devices. In one of our device running Android 8 with Bluetooth 4.2, we faced some difficulties with the connectivity to the left bud. Strangely, it worked on the devices with Bluetooth 5.0 and above.
The battery standby time is excellent on the Life Dot 2 is excellent. This earbud could be a perfect companion for the long trip. Also, it is disappointing that the device doesn’t support popular and widely used codecs like AptX or AAC to deliver best quality music listening experience.
The Life Dot 2 has physical buttons on both the buds to get your Google Assistant or the Apple Siri. Also, it allows you to control the music and calls and let you Play/Pause or changes the tracks using the buttons. To control your volume, you still have to depend on your device. Sometimes it may make you feel uncomfortable when controlling the music using the buttons, as the buttons are a bit stiff and clicking the buttons further inside the ears could be painful at times.
Conclusion
The Soundcore Life Dot 2 review will greatly help the people who don’t like to charge their devices on a daily basis. Taking advantage of its beefier battery from its charging case, a whopping 100h playback time is a sweet deal.
The budget wireless earbuds from Anker delivers a decently balanced sound and will easily stay alive throughout a full day usage. Lack of EQ settings could be a deal-breaker for some people who like to play with the sound. Considering the cost what the brand is offering, these can be ignored.
The Life Dot 2 has priced it around AED 139 and it can be purchased from Amazon. The device is well built and comfortable to use. This will be a great buy for those who are looking for budget wireless earbuds without too many trade-offs.
